Ways to Improve your Presentation Skills

Presentation Skills are very important as The content you are presenting to the Audience. Public speaking skills matter a lot in the audience engagement. We always say that Content is the King but before content, we have to develop good presenting skills to deliver that content. I am sharing with you certain ways by which you can upgrade not just only Public Speaking skills but also more confidence. So, just read out the following ways to improve your presentation skills: -

  • Audience Interest: While making the presentation you have to research the target interest of the audience. Make the presentation to the point and more concentrate on the goals and targets the audience is looking for. Present the content by which you get more audience engagement.

  • Structure of Presentation: You have to design a particular structure of the presentation you are delivering. Make sure you start with the brief information of the data you will present than the main body of the presentation which includes all the content and statistics of the presentation and then the conclusion.

  • Storytelling: Storytelling is one of the best ways to get the audience's attention. You can explain your content by using the Storytelling method. Today, the attention span of the audience is very less. By Storytelling, you can explain the content very well and it has the power to convert the audience into leads.

  • Statistics and Graphs: Now, try to explain the data more in statistical form. By this method, you can easily explain the data analysis, and also by graphs, the picture is clear as a mirror. So, do add statistics in your presentation, it also helps you to present the presentation in an easier way.

  • Humour: Never present the presentation in a very serious mood. Present your presentation with some humour so that the audience didn’t get bored. Don’t try to crack jokes in the middle of the presentation just add humour in the content you are presenting.

  • Create your own Content: Never copy the content of the presentation. You can never present a good presentation if you are just copying the content. Make your own content so that you can Be Yourself while presenting the presentation. If the content is yours then you know the stuff you are presenting and you also know how to present that stuff.

  • Use Visuals and graphics: Try to add some Visuals and Graphics in your presentation if possible. As, by adding visuals your presentation looks more premium, and also, the audience gets involved in it.

  • Practice and Improve: Now, you have to practice and find the mistakes you have done in the last presentation and remember that you do not repeat those mistakes.

So, these are some interesting ways in which you can improve your Presentation Skills. Also, sharing your presentations online is one of the best ways to spread education. So, do share presentations online at SharePresentation Website.

Is Bunkr going to be a PowerPoint killer?

Since the launch of PowerPoint, a lot has been done around PowerPoint and presentations. Be it online presentation creation, online presentation sharing or desktop plug-ins, there is lot of stuff going on to help people create high quality stunning presentations without the help of professionals.

TechCrunch recently projected Bunkr- an online presentation creation tool as a PowerPoint killer. Like any other presentation creation tools, Bunkr lets you create presentations online which can be exported as PPT.

Largely online presentation creation tools are nowhere near to what desktop presentation software's and plugins offer and same is the case with Bunkr. It offers nothing which is not being offered by Microsoft PowerPoint 2013, Office 365, PowToons and Google presentations. Bunkr's USP is in-built image, video and content search, but then again this feature is already in-built in MS PowerPoint 2013 and authorSTREAM Desktop plugin which also takes care of copyright attribution.

Now at a time when SlideRocket failed to tap the online presentation creation market and Microsoft too offering online presentation creation, it would be interesting to see how long Bunkr goes. Do you also think that Bunkr is going to be a PowerPoint killer?

Google adds animations and transitions to presentations

Google today released an upgraded version of Google presentations. Google presentations now support most of the basic animation effects like fly, appear, zoom, spin  in addition to slide transitions. With this release Google has narrowed down the feature gap between Google presentations and other online or desktop presentation applications.

What's new in Google presentations?
Google has added more than 50 new features including real-time collaboration:
  • Transitions to move between slides with simple fades or spicier 3D effects
  • Animations to add emphasis or to make your slides more playful
  • New themes to create beautiful presentations with distinct visual styles
  • Drawings to build new designs, layouts, and flowcharts within a presentation
  • Rich tables with merged cells and more options for adding style to your data
Google presentations are now as good as Microsoft PowerPoint
Since most of the people use just the basic animation effects like fly, appear, disappear this release will certainly eat the market share of other online presentation creation tools and my be PowerPoint too. Google presentations now has a option to download the presentations as PPTX. A presentation created with Google presentation work just fine in Microsoft PowerPoint along with animation effects.

The day, Google adds option to add audio and record narrations, the competition for Microsoft PowerPoint will really be tough considering the free versus paid scenario.

How to enable new presentation features?
Most probably you will see an alert to enable new presentation on Google docs home page but if you don't see that, you can enable it from Documents and settings.
  • Click the setting icon(Gear icon on top right).
  • Select "Documents and Settings".
  • Click Editing tab.
  • Tic the check-box "Create new presentations using the latest version of the presentation editor" and save.
Newly added features will only work for new presentations you create.

Create cool presentations with VisualBee

VisualBee is a Microsoft PowerPoint plugin (add-in) which helps you create awesome presentations with cool graphics and stunning templates with much ease and in less time. The plugin not only lets you select style and templates for free but also smart enough to analyze the text of slides and automatically enhances it with relevant graphics. The biggest advantage is that you need not to go outside of PowerPoint software to search for pictures, templates etc.

Once you are done with your presentation, just click the VisualBee addin in PowerPoint ribbon and click 'Enhance Presentation'. After this step, "Enhance presentation' wizard will just take few seconds to enhance your presentation. See demo below for details:

Though visualBee takes care of most of the things a  presenter would need, yet of late audio and video has also become an integral part of the presentations. As of now, VisualBee has no video or audio library available. There is a workaround for this problem too. For image and video search you can use authorSTREAM desktop- a free add-in for PowerPoint. authorSTREAM desktop lets you search and insert images from Bing and videos from YouTube from within the PowerPoint.

VisualBee do have a premium plan which allows users access to wide range of exclusive templates and graphics. Download VisualBee here and start creating great content.

Zoom your presentations with pptPlex

pptPlex 2Image by Jinho.Jung via Flickr

Microsoft's lab product pptPlex is the coolest PowerPoint add-in which lets you give presentations in a quite astonishing way. pptPlex with zoom in and zoom out effects is quite similar to Prezi which offers similar functionality online.

pptPlex uses Plex technology to zoom in and out of slide sections and move directly between slides that are not sequential in your presentation. You can arrange all slides on a stunning canvas and can zoom in or zoom out slides during presentation besides navigating in a non-linear fashion. You need not to go slide by slide, just double click any slide thumb on the canvas and slide will appear with smooth zoom effect.

pptPlex also lets you add live content from other Office documents(Word, excel) in your PowerPoint presentations. Live content means if you have added some excel sheet and source data gets changed, your presentation will always have the updated data as will read the data from excel sheet itself.

Get Microsoft Silverlight

You can download pptPlex from Microsoft labs. You would also require to download and install XPS or Save as PDF add-in in order to use pptPlex on PowerPoint 2007.

pptPlex is quite easy to use and for sure it will add some seasoning to the way you give presentations.

Create PowerPoint presentations which keep audience attentive and awake

An effective PowerPoint presentation can leave long lasting impact on audience. A PowerPoint can do more than what a blog post or document can.

Don't just fill your presentation with tons of text, bullets, images and annoying animations. Your PowerPoint should be a balanced combination of text, images and animation effects. PowerPoint presentation can also have narrations or background music if you intend to put it on some online presentation sharing website. A little planning, great script, cool design and sincere hard work will certainly pay you. There is such a abundance of bad presentation that PowerPoint expert and author Ellen Finkelstein has to start a campaign named " death by PowerPoint".

Insert videos in PowerPoint using authorSTREAM desktop

Sharing PowerPoint presentations having videos has always been a big issue with normal PowerPoint users. People always wonder why and how video or movie file inserted in PowerPoint which plays well on their computer disappears when they run slide show on their office system or any other computer.

Most of the PowerPoint users are unaware of the fact that videos are always linked in PowerPoint slides and will not play on the system other than where the linked file resides. Few technical users keep PowerPoint file and video in same folder and share the zip file so that video plays irrespective of where you run Slide show.

For those who don't want to share bulky zip files or who don't know technical details related to video insertion in PowerPoint, authorSTREAM has come up with a promising solution. authorSTREAM desktop (a free PowerPoint plug-in from authorSTREAM) which lets you insert YouTube videos, can now take care of videos inserted in PowerPoint slides. You just need to upload PowerPoint presentation having linked audio or video using authorSTREAM Desktop and its inbuilt mechanism will take care of rest.

Presentation output on authorSTREAM will play inserted videos as they play in PowerPoint slide show on your machine and you only need to share authorSTREAM presentation link with your friends and family. So now besides inserting YouTube videos, you can insert videos from your desktop in your PowerPoint slides.

PowerPoint presentations on Michael Jackson

Such was the impact of Michael Jackson's sudden death that Google stopped responding for a while. Twitter has to remove 'Trending Topics'. Every website, blog, TV channel was just talking about MJ.

PowerPoint creators also paid tribute to MJ in their own style by creating some great presentations. Few presentations embedded below will let you have glimpse of MJ's life.

Embedding or linking audio files in PowerPoint

Do you always wonder why audio inserted in your PowerPoint presentation disappear when you play presentation on a computer other than the one where it was created? Do you fail to understand why online PowerPoint sharing websites like authorSTREAM, slideboom or slideshare (BTW they don't support audio inserted in PowerPoint file) fail to play audio inserted in your Presentation?

Answer to these questions lie in the way audio was inserted in PowerPoint. There are two methods of inserting audio files in PowerPoint presentations. Either you can embed audio in PowerPoint itself or link the audio file.

As per Microsoft
"Main differences between embedded (embedded object: Information (object) contained in a source file and inserted into a destination file. Once embedded, the object becomes part of the destination file. Changes you make to the embedded object are reflected in the destination file.) sounds (objects) (object: A table, chart, graphic, equation, or other form of information. Objects created in one application, for example spreadsheets, and linked or embedded in another application are OLE objects.) and linked (linked object: An object that is created in a source file and inserted into a destination file, while maintaining a connection between the two files. The linked object in the destination file can be updated when the source file is updated.) sounds are where they are stored and how you update them after you put them in your presentation. Embedded files are stored within the presentation, and linked files are stored outside the presentation."

In case of linked files, PowerPoint always play audio from the linked location of file( say "c:\my Documents\test.wmv"). When you play PowerPoint file having linked audio on some other machine, PowerPoint file tries to locate and play audio file from linked path i.e. "c:\my Documents\test.wmv". As there is no such audio file at the path specified on new machine so audio fails to play. Embedded audio file is contained in PowerPoint itself so audio will play on online presentation sharing websites or on other computers.

Audio file of size more than 50 MB will always be linked. You may have to set audio file size from advance options so that audio file below 50 MB is always embedded. Follow steps below:

See videos on how to insert audio in PowerPoint file.
